2015 – 2016 Advising Summits
The theme for the 2015-2016 year builds on our goals to provide essential news and information to advisors and connect them with programs and units around campus that are serving students through their varied identities and affiliations.
Spring 2016 Advising Summit Heading link
Our Spring 2016 Advising Summit focused on one of our other professional development themes for the year – building relationships to better advise our students. We focused on two of our essential campus units and their intersection with advising – Summer Session and Career Services. There was an interactive, lively discussion applying the information our leaders from those offices provided to advising some sample students through what they should consider and how to problem solve through challenges preparing for summer. Ultimately, our advising corps were provided the opportunity to get to know one another, interact about how they think about summer for students (and themselves) and how we can best take advantage of the relationships we build. We also provided an opportunity for campus colleagues to do short updates for attendees. Our Spring 2016 Summit was held on February 25, 2016.

Fall 2015 Advising Summit Heading link
Our Fall 2015 Advising Summit focused on campus unit updates from ROTC and Transfer Partnerships in addition to our featured topic. Our featured topic is related to one of the professional development themes for the year, which is advising UIC’s first generation college students. At the Summit, research from our Office of Research on Student Success was presented and advisors were part of an informal Q&A with Lillye Hart, Director of our UIC TRIO Program. Our Fall 2015 Summit was held on November 6, 2015.
