SHARE WITH STUDENTS: UIC Navigator Scholars 2023

The Study Abroad Office is excited to announce UIC Navigator Scholars, an expanded and updated study abroad scholarship program based on the FirstGen Flames Abroad initiative. Thanks to the program's success, UIC leadership has committed increased funding to award scholarships to 25 students each academic year for the next four years.

The UIC Navigator Scholars program is designed to award first-year students whose parent(s) did not complete a bachelor’s degree with a scholarship to study abroad. Students will find out during their first year at UIC if they have earned the scholarship and will have the remainder of their time at UIC to use the scholarship towards the costs of an approved UIC faculty-directed or exchange program. In addition to receiving a scholarship, UIC Navigator Scholars will participate as a cohort in online modules designed to prepare them for their education abroad experience. Additionally, once a semester, scholars will participate in a summit focused on professional development, leadership, and intercultural competency development.

We are currently accepting applications. Please use this media kit to help spread the word to students. The application deadline is May 5th. Please contact sao@uic.edu with any questions.

Thanks!
