AH 160 "Art Since 1960"
Nicoletta Rousseva
A global survey of the artwork, art movements, exhibitions, and issues that shaped artistic production in the 1990s and early 2000s. The course begins with an overview of artistic predecessors in the 1960s through 1980s then shifts focus to art since 1990. Lectures, discussions, and creative projects attend to topics such as the culture wars surrounding censorship and artistic freedom, the rise of identity politics, the impact of new media and technology on artistic production, the emergence of “relational aesthetics,” and the expansion of the global art market.

AH 252 "BAROQUE ART AND ARCHITECTURE"
PROF. MARTHA POLLAK
This course will take up highlights of painting, sculpture, architecture and city planning from late-16th century Rome to the early 18th century in Paris and London. The aim is to survey the major trends and artistic innovation in Western Europe. Lectures,  discussions and readings will track influential episodes, new conceptual ideas, and the interests of those who commissioned artists’ work. The course seeks to foster critical skills in visual analysis, and close readings of art historical texts.
