Healthy Living for Pandemic Event Protection (HL-PIVOT)
Topics:
- Definition of healthy living and pandemics
- Introduce the concept of obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes and noncommunicable diseases as pandemics
- Epidemiology – Discuss incidence and prevalence of health conditions amongst those infected by COVID-19 and other viruses
- Lessons from COVID-19

- What increased the risk of poor health outcomes
- highlight the importance of unhealthy behaviors leading to these conditions
- The benefits of moving more and exercising – immune function, cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory and muscle function
- The benefits of good nutrition – immune function, cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory and muscle function
- Guidance for increasing physically activity and healthier diet
- Special considerations for adopting healthy living practices
- Using technology to improve healthy living behaviors (apps, websites, fitness trackers, etc.)
- Health Communication and Literacy
- Being an advocate for healthy living: how to help family, friends and colleagues adopt healthy living behaviors
