Aloha from Hawai’i: My Journey as a Pacific Islander in STEM Research and Higher Education ft. Leslyn Hanakahi
Who:
Dr. Leslyn Hanakahi is of Native Hawaiian ancestry and was born and raised on the island O’ahu. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University, her post-doctoral training at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in England, UK, and returned to America to set up an independent research lab and pursue her career in research and higher education. She’s an Associate Professor at the UIC College of Pharmacy and will tell her story of what it’s like as a Pacific Islander in STEM Research and Higher Education. This event will involve Q&A and story sharing.
