The Peer Success Coaching Program is looking for dynamic, continuing students who are interested in helping UIC’s new students learn about the college experience!

Here is a little more about the position:

Applicants should be current undergraduate UIC students in good academic standing.

All majors are welcome to apply!

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Enthusiasm and interest in UIC
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • High level of time management skills, organization and flexibility
  • Strong interest in learning about UIC resources, services and opportunities as well as policies and people at UIC

Desired Skills and Interests:

Must have interest in peer mentorship/coaching/learning communities.

Position Responsibilities:

This position will aid in the planning implementation of the UIC Peer Success Coaching Program. Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit and engage first-year students
  • Meet with students (either one to one or in small group) and facilitate guided conversations to identify needs, set goals, and provide referrals to appropriate resources as needed
  • Report interactions and conversations with senior staff during individual supervision meetings
  • Facilitate virtual group events with students and fellow peer coaches
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of coaching interactions, according to policies and guidelines of the University.
  • Represent the unit and UIC at workshops, events and other University functions.
  • Attend staff trainings

Peer Success Coaches will need to be available a maximum of 10 hours per week, with 2 hours dedicated to professional development and 5 hours dedicated to planning, documentation, outreach and follow up with students as needed.
