Are you interested in learning more about the Arab American community? Did you know Arab Americans have lived in the U.S. for over 100 years? Would you like to learn more about their contributions to the arts, politics and academia? What issues are Arab Americans facing in today's society? Topics ranging from racism and societal pressures to cultural norms in the Arab community will be discussed in this interactive and fun class! This course will provide an overview of themes in the field of Arab American Studies: immigration and racism; family, gender, and sexuality; socio-economic class; religious affiliations; arts and cultures; and politics and political activism. This is an interactive thought-provoking course including groups discussions and creative projects.
