Art History 262: American Art to 1945 (M/W 9:30-10:45; CRN 34433/34435 (Honors section)
This course addresses a number of provocative and timely questions. What and who counts as American? How has U.S. national culture been informed by ongoing encounters with a diverse set of cultural traditions through exchange and migration? Structured around case studies and discussion, with group and individual projects, we will explore how art and history have shaped what we think about America today. All students are welcome! (Fulfills the Creative Arts General Education requirement.)
