The Student Success Lecture Series presents research and initiatives being undertaken by the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Academic Programs and across campus to better understand and improve the success of UIC students. The series also offers opportunities for dialogue among faculty, staff, and administrators who are designing and studying various dimensions of student success at UIC, which could lead to recommendations for practice that will benefit our students.

Presentation Title: Using Predictive Analytics and Goal-Setting to Promote Graduation
Topic Overview:
Join us for a presentation and discussion session on predictive analytics to identify students who may encounter challenges toward graduation, as determined by metrics based on first- and second-semester indicators, and on strategies to support them, including targeted goal-setting in the second year. Specifically, the presentation will contextualize these metrics and their use within existing student success projects and units, with an eye toward utilizing pre-matriculation and institutional data to prevent students from falling behind.
Presenters: Dr. Lindsey Back, Director, Office for Research on Student Success, and Dr. Darima Butitova, Data Analyst, Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Academic Programs.
