PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: REMINDER – Spring 2020 SAP Changes – Information and Reference Materials Request Form Available

REMINDER - Spring 2020 SAP Changes

This is a reminder that the Spring 2020 SAP changes may affect some of your students if they have SAP Cancellation- don't let them ignore the option to use COVID-19 remediation procedures if eligible and appropriate for their situation.

As noted earlier this summer, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are provisions from the federal government about the effects of COVID-19 for students related to Satisfactory Academic Progress and cancellation of financial aid.

Student Financial Aid and Scholarships has put together a process that addresses those provisions to the benefit of students; however, it does have some important details that advising units will need to be aware of when working with students who are eligible for these COVID-19 provisions. It also means that some of the advice that we would normally provide to students who have had their financial aid cancelled because of SAP needs to change. These provisions also intersect with the Office for Research on Student Success’s Promoting Academic Progress Project activities this May and June.

OAD partnered together with the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships on a process using iAdvise to help advisors working with students who have Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) cancellations this Spring 2020 and who may lose their financial aid eligibility.

Please review your student's information in iAdvise - flags have been entered and SAP information is available in the iAdvise Overview.

We have reference materials available and they can be requested using the Spring 2020 SAP Reference Materials Request Form. Because of the detailed information they contain, these materials will not be posted for general use on the OAD website, but you are encouraged to request them from OAD to have for reference.
