PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Nominate UIC Latina/o/x members for the CCSL Recognition Awards

The Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Latinos (CCSL) Recognition Awards for Faculty, Undergraduate Student, Graduate Student, and Staff (Academic Professional and Civil Service)

The Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Latinos (CCSL) established the CCSL Recognition Awards to acknowledge service to the Latinx community. In order to be eligible, nominees must identify as Latina/o/x and as members of the UIC community, be actively involved with Latinx issues and/or service at UIC, and be role models or mentors to members of the Latinx community.

Up to five recipients are awarded annually to a faculty member, an academic professional, a civil service employee, a graduate student, and an undergraduate student.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Service to the Latinx community
- Must identify as Latina/o/x and member of UIC community
- People actively involved with Latinx issues and/or service at UIC are eligible for the award
- People who are role models and/or mentors for the Latinx community

The CCSL Awards nominations are due April 30, 2021. You can nominate yourself, a student, a colleague or peer, your advisee, your professor, or your administrator for these awards. Nominators must submit the nomination application, write a nomination letter, and include the nominee's resume or CV.

Nomination Statement: In the statement the nominator should include how the nominee has actively contributed to the Latina/o/x community, how they are actively involved in Latina/o/x issues, and how they have served as role models or mentors of the Latina/o/x committee. (250 words max)

Letters of Support: Two letters of support, in addition to the nomination statement, are required. Letters can come from anyone in the UIC community (individuals do not need to identify as Latina/o/x). Letters must describe why the nominee is deserving of university recognition.
