PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: iAdvise News and Tips – Reminder “Message” is only viewable to you and your student!
The iAdvise Project Team has a news and a tip or you:
Reminder - If you use the "Message" function to communicate with your student(s) through iAdvise, that's like an email and it is only viewable to you and your student!
We want to remind you about the difference between using the "Message" function to communicate with students related to viewability on the Student Profile:
Using the Message component will send the student a message through iAdvise, you can see if the student has read the message, and it will remain on the Student Profile; however, please keep in mind that this function works exactly like your email and that message and what it contains is not viewable to anyone but you and the student. The advantage to using the Message component versus email is that you can message a group of students in bulk, the message will stay on the student's dashboard for a long length of time, etc. The primary disadvantage is that this message and the content are only viewable in the Student Profile by the user who sent the message. We know that often the purpose of using iAdvise is to collaborate, document information, and share.
We recommend using the Standalone Note component if you want your message content to be viewable by other staff users associated to the student. The iAdvise Team is happy to help with working out your best options if you are unsure of which communication or tracking component to use. Just reach out to us or visit Open Hours!
