PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: iAdvise Tip of the Week – My Students Menu vs. Tracking Menu – choosing where to filter for what you want!

Here's this week's tip from the iAdvise Project Team:

  • It can be difficult to know when to use which menu/tab for filtering. Here’s some tips to know where you want to put your filter:
    • General Tips – The general way to know which menu to use is this:
      • If you’re looking to filter for To Do’s, Kudos, or Referrals raised and want to see them, USE the TRACKING MENU. You will often get more than one record per student.
      • If you’re looking for a list of students to take some actions but you don’t need to see what’s been raised, USE the MY STUDENTS MENU.
    • Downloading – In either case, you can click the “download” button to get a csv file of those students that you can sort or annotate in Excel.
      • Downloading from MY STUDENTS MENU will give you students’ contact information
      • Downloading from TRACKING MENU will give you both the students’ contact information, and information about the tracking items displayed (e.g., dates raised and resolved, etc.).
      • You will need to remember/annotate what selections you had on the filter; they are not displayed in the file.
