PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: 9th Annual Advisor Week – Friday’s Events…Join us!

We've reached the end of our Advisor Week together, but it's not over yet!

We've kept Friday morning free for unit-based events, and for you to do yoga at your leisure! We've provided a link to our recording of Rachel's session from last year, and I'm excited to let you know that we will be doing a "Pop-Up Advisor Week" event on Aprill 22nd with Rachel! She is going to do a Zoom yoga session at 8:30 am to start your day. Thanks, Rachel! But you can take advantage of the recording to do some yoga to end your week....

Our friends at NASP have a fantastic event for you at noon, and then we're excited for our final, casual chat event for tea time with us! We're going to talk about our favorite outdoor activities - summer in Chicago is coming and we want to know about all the outside gems!

You can review the rest of the events of the week at our Advisor Week Schedule and please RSVP at https://go.uic.edu/advisorweekrsvp

9th Annual Advisor Week Schedule - Friday, March 26th Events:

FRIDAY, MARCH 26TH - Morning for in Unit Advisor Week activities...or our Yoga session via recording at your leisure!
We have provided the morning off from events for units and advisors to pursue their own activities...we're looking forward to our afternoon casual chat! While we normally would have ended our week with a live Zoom yoga session, we're actually planning that for a future "Pop-Up Yoga to Start Your Day" with Rachel Najdzin on April 22nd so you need to SAVE THE DATEĀ for that. In lieu of that, we think it would be amazing to take advantage of our session from last year with Rachel - you can access the recording at our Advisor Links!

FRIDAY, MARCH 26TH - NASP Event - you're invited Advisors! - River Kerstetter (Oneida Nation and of mixed Indigenous/European descent)
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Event Link for Description and Registration

All UIC students, staff, faculty, and community friends are welcome!

This casual conversation with River Kerstetter (Oneida Nation) is part of the Alternative Spring Break series hosted by the Native American Support Program, The University of Illinois at Chicago.
River Kerstetter is a citizen of the Oneida Nation and of mixed Indigenous/European descent. River is an artist and writer who believes that art and storytelling are vital parts of collective healing and connection, especially in Indigenous, Two-Spirit, and LGBTQIA+ communities who fight to be seen and safe every day. She has taught art for youth and young adults for eight years, including at the Chicago Center for Arts & Technology, Columbia College Chicago, and Working Classroom in Albuquerque, NM. She is a co-founder of TIES, a reading series that celebrates Indigenous, Two-Spirit, and LGBTQ+ writers, and a co-founder of the Center for Native Futures, a new Chicago non-profit that works to support Native artists. River grew up in occupied Pueblo lands (Central New Mexico) and now lives and works in occupied Potawatomi, Ojibwe, and Odawa lands (Chicago).

FRIDAY, MARCH 26TH - Brown Bag High Tea Chat - What's your favorite outdoor activity? Do you have a favorite Chicagoland trail or nature walk? (Or just come over and chat over lunch....)

We're going to end the week the way we started it, with casual brown bag lunch conversation! We end our week together relaxing, eating lunch, and talking about our favorite outdoor activities! As the weather gets better in Chicago, the outdoors becomes our favorite place to be....do you have a secret place you love to go but you're willing to share? Is there a great nature trail near your house? Do you have a favorite neighborhood in Chicago? Just like Monday this event is designed as a casual, free wheeling conversation that gives us a chance to learn about each other and to hear about new things we may want to try! And if you just want to bring your lunch for a casual hang out on Zoom to celebrate everything we've done this Advisor Week before you say hello to the weekend, come join us!
