Save the Date for STEM WEEK: November 14—18, 2022.
Please consider leading a session during STEM Week.
Organized by the STEM Initiative, this week will include a variety of activities of interest to STEM students. The workshops and seminars of STEM WEEK are open to all UIC community members. The goals of the STEM Initiative include motivating and supporting students to the highest levels of academic achievement and success at UIC and strengthening the STEM Community at UIC.
Topics of interest during STEM WEEK may include:
- Exploring specific scientific phenomena
- Managing the challenge of college-level STEM classes
- Staying in a STEM major through graduation (or changing majors, within STEM disciplines….)
- Finding role models, coping with micro-aggressions, facing financial, or emotional challenges
- Making use of resources and support systems
- Self-care, remaining safe, and supporting each other
- Learning about Research or Internship opportunities
- STEM-oriented volunteering activities
- Broadening students’ connection to multidisciplinary issues facing the world
- Building community and support networks among undergraduates, grad students, and faculty
- Preparing to apply for--and successfully transition to--graduate school
- Special topics in STEM education
