FOR ADVISORS’ INFORMATION: Program Participation in UIC’s first Major Minor Fair
Dear Colleagues,
I am excited to share that UIC's Inaugural Major Minor Fair will take place on October 4th, 11am-2pm in SCE Illinois Rooms. This event will be open to all undergraduate students.
We are asking that representatives from your undergraduate majors and minors staff a table at the fair to explain more about your programs, the opportunities within the programs, and related career paths.
What’s in it for you?
There are many benefits to participating in a Major Minor Fair (which is a common event at other large universities):
- Give visibility to smaller majors and minors on campus
- Advertise your ICT sessions to a wider audience
- Provides an avenue for students to learn about your majors and minors
- Advertise your classes that any student can take to fulfill a gen ed
- Raise awareness about career fields within your discipline that students may not be familiar with
- Positively impact university-wide retention by keeping our students at UIC!
Who should represent your program?
Anyone who can speak about it! This could be academic advisors, recruiters, faculty, or even current students – it’s completely up to you! You can also work the fair in shifts if your representatives can’t be present for the entire 3 hour fair.
To register your program, please complete the form below no later than September 20th:
https://forms.uofi.uic.edu/sec/118606561
We will be following up soon with marketing materials to advertise this event to students, as well as a tip sheet to prepare for the fair.
