FOR ADVISORS’ INFORMATION: Fall 2020 Study Abroad Programming is cancelled.
UIC has made the decision to cancel all study abroad programming for the fall 2020 semester due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns. Students who had applied for a fall 2020 program have all been notified of this decision. The Study Abroad Office has encouraged students to connect with their academic advisors regarding their fall schedules and to begin discussing the potential to plan for a future term in which to study abroad; planning is underway to potentially resume study abroad as early as spring 2021. This decision was a difficult one as we know many students had worked hard and planned for a long time to study abroad, however, the safety and security of our students is of paramount concern and various industry leaders are not recommending international travel at this time.
On a positive note, a new Executive Director of the Study Abroad Office has been appointed. Dr. Kyle Rausch has joined the SAO, bringing experience from having worked in the study abroad offices at Purdue University Northwest, Arizona State University, and Florida State University. Kyle can be contacted a kcrausch@uic.edu and looks forward to partnering with the academic advising community to make international co-curricular experiences available to every UIC student.
