SHARE WITH STUDENTS: News Regarding Commuter Student Resource Center (Closure March 17-May 10) Read for Details
Greetings Commuters – I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to share an update regarding the operations of the Commuter Student Resource Center. In response to the University’s directives regarding COVID-19, the Commuter Student Resource Center will move to remote services March 17-May 10.
As a result, we will close the Commuter Student Resource Center during this period (March 17 – May 10). Please review this email in detail to better understand how we will operate during this period.
- General Support and Apartment Search Guidance
- We are working to have phone lines transferred so that should you call, they will be answered by department staff during the hours of 8AM-4PM. Details will be shared on our webpage: https://csrc.uic.edu/about-us/contact/.
- Continue to contact us via email with any questions you may have: 312.413.7440
- Additionally, should you be in the midst of an apartment search, please email us and we are glad to coordinate a phone or virtual call with you to assist you through this process.
- Alternate Spaces
- Student Centers – Student Centers will remain open but with adjusted hours. Visit: https://studentcenters.uic.edu/about/locations/
- UIC Libraries – UIC libraries will adopt adjusted hours. For details on their offerings, visit: https://library.uic.edu/libraries
- Student Recreation Facility – Will remain open with adjusted procedures, visit: https://recreation.uic.edu/
- Programs/Events
- In response to this directive, we are in the process of planning multiple virtual events that you can participate in. This is still in progress but we plan to notify you via our list serv and share event updates via our website. More to come!
- Retrieving Your Items (Lockers)
- We recognize that most of us did not plan to be away from campus for such an extended period of time. Should you have items in your Commuter Student Resource Center locker, we will have designated “Pick Up” days where we will be open for you to retrieve your items. Note: If these dates/times do not work for you, please e-mail Bonnie Bell (bonniebe@uic.edu) and we will work to identify an alternate date/time for you to pick-up your items. The currently scheduled pick up dates/times are available below:
- March 18 9AM-1PM
- March 23 9AM-1PM
- March 30 1PM-3PM
- April 8 9AM-1PM
- Locker Clean Out Extended: We will also plan to hold onto remaining items until June 1st. So if you are unable to retrieve your items until after the semester has ended, you will still have an opportunity to pick up your belongings.

We recognize that this can be a challenging and stressful time. Our hope is that these precautionary measures can help reduce the risk of disease for students and staff alike. Should you have any additional questions in the meantime, please feel free to let us know.
