UIC's very own Anya Cruz was published in the Advisor, the journal for the field of Health Professions Advising! The article was included in the September 2020 issue (which was just released) and can be downloaded here for you to review.
Anya’s piece is so important for our field of Pre-Health Advising in that it works to bring up the gatekeeping vs student support that happens and provides concrete ways for advisors to think about how to help their students, particularly first-generation, low-income, and BIPOC students, who are looking to medical school and other health professions careers. The LAS Pre-Professional Advising Office encourages you to read it as it also reflects our views as a pre-health advising team on how we work with pre-health students at UIC.
