Information for Advisors – Spring Semester

Purpose of Early Alerts Heading link

The purpose of early alerts is to provide a means of communication between faculty, students, and advisors so that:

  • Students can address issues promptly enough in the semester to hopefully prevent serious consequences;
  • Advisors can assist students in navigating their academic experience, and;
  • Advisors can make referrals to campus resources, etc.

COVID-19 Response Heading link

We are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has required significant changes to course delivery and instructors may be using varied instructional methods for course delivery. Early Alerts remain essential, especially in such a unique time; however, we also understand that our current conditions may change how alerts are entered or addressed this term. Information has been provided along with your directions for alert management; however, we also wanted to ensure that you have at hand some information related to attendance and course concerns. See below for a link to the Memo from OAD providing details on the administration of Early Alerts under COVID-19 conditions.

In addition, there have been a number of updates provided to faculty, staff, and students related to policies and procedures for Spring 2022 and guidance is provided on the Provost’s web page.

If you need assistance from the Disability Resource Center, please see consult: https://drc.uic.edu/attendance-absence-accommodations/ or contact the office at drc@uic.edu or (312) 413-2183.
