SHARE WITH STUDENTS: 2016 Student Research Forum being held on April 12, 2016

Please encourage your students to participate in the 2016 UIC Student Research Forum (SRF), which will be held on April 12, 2016. This annual event showcases undergraduate, graduate, and professional student research. The SRF provides students with the opportunity to present their research in a one-on-one style to a broad audience. The environment is friendly, and students will also have a chance to win a cash prize. More than 300 students presented at last year’s SRF, and we want to keep those numbers up!

Beyond encouraging your students to participate, please also consider serving as a judge or volunteering for a couple of hours behind the scenes. Serving as a judge is an enjoyable and time-limited commitment. Judges simply spend an hour or two at the event, engaging one-on-one with each student whose presentation they are assigned to judge. You will be given a simple judging evaluation sheet for each of these student presenters. You do NOT need to be an expert in the areas you judge; you will be assessing the student's work in terms of their ability to convey the subject matter and key background, motivation, results, techniques, etc. You can register as a judge at the following website: www.research.uic.edu/srf/fjudges  If you want to volunteer instead, please send an email to Jacquie Berger at jacquieb@uic.edu with a note naming one or more time-slots of at least two hours on April 12th between 8 am and 6 pm when you want to help with student or judge check-in, set-up, break-down, event logistics, etc.
