PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Are you interested in upcoming ILACADA, Chicago Area Advisor Network (CAAN), and Region V events? Want to help UARC coordinate UIC advisors’ involvement in our local, statewide, and regional advising network?

As you probably know ILACADA’s Annual Conference is coming up in a few weeks on May 20th and is being held at Illinois State University! UIC has been privileged to have two of our own advisors continue serving in leadership roles at ILACADA – Stuart Robinson of LAS and Eliza Callahan of the Honors College. The Undergraduate Advising Resource Center, in partnership with Eliza and Stuart, have been thinking about increasing UIC’s participation in our local, statewide, and regional advising organizations and we would love your help!

For this year, if you’re planning on attending ILACADA on May 20th or want to attend but transportation is holding you back, UARC will be coordinating and funding transportation early in the morning to get to Illinois State and we’ll get you back the same day!

But even if this year’s conference isn’t a possibility for you, we’re thinking long term about UIC’s involvement in our local, state, regional, and national advising organizations. ILACADA is a great opportunity for advisors to connect with our colleagues across the state and we are excited that over the next year and a half there will be three events that we can take advantage of to learn from our colleagues but also to present our own excellent work!

Chicago Area Advisor Network (CAAN) will be holding a December 2016 event locally here in Chicago;

NACADA Region V Conference will be held in Rosemont on  March 15 – 17, 2017;

ILACADA Fall 2017 Drive-In Event will be held in September 2017

If you’re interested in participating in a group that will work together with our advising corps across campus so that we can take advantage of what is happening in our organizations, please reach out to Joey (jvolpe@uic.edu) by May 31st so that planning can begin.
