PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We'll kick off Advisor Week of with an interactive session "Optimizing Impact: Advising students toward Undergraduate Research at UIC and new opportunities with Las Ganas" with Dr. Sara Hall from the Office of Undergraduate Research and Veronica Arreola discussing undergraduate research and the new opportunities provided by the Las Ganas program through HSI STEM.
We have an expanded version of Tuesday/Thursday Topics Advisor Common Readings with two offerings on different topics - one on March 21st and one on March 23rd! Lunch included!
We'll be doing a full-day four session Advisor Conference with lunch provided on Wednesday, March 22nd featuring presentations from our own campus members. Our morning will be spent on the theme "Contextualizing Campus Climate: Support for Undocumented and Arab American Students." Our afternoon will be spent on the theme of "Navigating Complexity."
The week continues with Ashley Stone (AAAN) leading a panel discussing the "Challenge and Support Model" on Thursday, March 23rd.
And we cap off the week with a new and exciting event being hosted by our west side partners "East Meets West: Do you know the West Side?" Transportation to the west side and lunch provided!!!
NETWORKING AND "TAKE A BREAK"
We're planning a range of fun events for our community to enjoy!
Kick off Advisor Week with us on Tuesday, March 21st with "Take a Break: Paint, paint, paint..." We'll be painting again so you can prepare yourself to exercise your creative side!
Continue enjoying our time together and kick up your heels with us on Wednesday, March 22nd after work by joining us for "Saucy Salsa Night" where we'll enjoy food and beverages at Moe's Cantina. It will be a great way to kick back after Advisor Conference!
Summer Session is giving advisors a preview to summer by sponsoring our ADVISOR NETWORKING EVENTS - "Let's Play Ball - Tailgate and UIC Baseball," which is being held on Friday, March 24th starting at 3:00 p.m. at Granderson Stadium. Tailgate and watch the game as a way to cap off our fabulous week!
