PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – ADVISOR WEEK is coming – March 20th – 24th! We need your opinion!

It's that time again - we're nearing ADVISOR WEEK!

Save the dates for our Fifth Annual UIC Advisor Week. There are going to be a number of professional development events while also taking a break with your fellow advisors...here's a preview:

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

We have an expanded version of Tuesday/Thursday Topics Advisor Common Readings with two offerings on different topics - one on March 21st and one on March 23rd! Lunch included!

We'll be doing a full day four session Advisor Conference with lunch provided on Wednesday, March 22nd featuring presentations from our own campus members.

We'll have three workshop/discussions on a range of topics including being an HSI, advising students about undergraduate research, and much, much more! We're planning to continue the discussions and information begun at Advising Summit.

NETWORKING AND "TAKE A BREAK"

We're planning a range of fun events for our community to enjoy!

Kick off Advisor Week with us on Tuesday, March 21st after work by joining us for "Saucy Salsa Night" where we'll enjoy some pizza and beverages at Lou Malnati's on Randolph before twisting and turning our way across the street for salsa lessons at Alhambra.

"Take a Break: Paint, paint, paint..." is continuing again this year. We'll be painting again and we'll let you know the exact date as soon as we can so you can prepare yourself to exercise your creative side!

Summer Session is giving advisors a preview to summer by sponsoring "Let's Play Ball - Tailgate and UIC Baseball," which is being held on Friday, March 24th starting at 3:00 p.m. at Granderson Stadium. Tailgate and watch the game as a way to cap off our fabulous week!

And there's more...a full schedule is coming soon but save the dates!

Now that you know a bit about some of the events we're planning, we need your opinion about a new idea:

For Advisor Week this year, we wanted to try something different and look at a fun way to explore the city. The committee is exploring an Urban Adventure Quest (http://www.urbanadventurequest.com/how-it-works/default.aspx). This scavenger hunt/quiz/walking tour of downtown would allow teams of 3-5 people to compete against each other. Because we would need to purchase quests per team, we would need to know how many people would be interested in participating. Please let us know your interest at through the link below:
