PUBH 420: Public Health Problem-Solving: Epidemiology in Action! (Fall 2019 Course)
We wanted to make you aware of an exciting course we are offering for Fall 2019: PUBH 420: Public Health Problem-Solving: Epidemiology in Action! (CRN 43942). For those of you pursuing health science careers, the course will enhance your quantitative reasoning and give you a deeper understanding of epidemiology, the science of public health. The course description is below.
Epidemiology is the basic science of public health and epidemiological methods are used not only to investigate infectious disease outbreaks but also to link exposures to non-infectious and chronic health outcomes, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of public health interventions. Through student driven discourse, hands-on projects and instructor facilitated case studies, this course is designed to hone previously learned epidemiological principles and apply them to simulated field conditions. The course is designed to bring theory of epidemiology to practice in public health protection and intervention.
The course is held on Tuesdays from 3:30pm - 6:15pm. The prerequisites are PUBH 120: Public Health and the Study of Disease and Epidemics or equivalent content as assessed by the instructor.
