PLEASE FORWARD TO STUDENTS -

Calling All Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, North African Students to participate in Survey

Dear Students,

We would like to invite you to take about 12-15 minutes of your time to fill out this anonymous survey about your college experiences. If you identify as Arab or Arab American, Middle Eastern (Iranian, Turkish, Kurdish, Assyrian, etc..), North African, Muslim, etc.… we want to encourage you to fill this survey:

https://uic.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1GJmGPM6WG3ZHvv

While Arab/middle eastern/north African/etc… students have been graduating from UIC for a very long time, there has not been a survey that took account of our student population and their needs and desires. The survey is the first survey to understand better your experiences on campus, your needs, your challenges, your desires for what the University and the Arab American Cultural Center can offer to ensure you have a fulfilling and affirming college experience. The survey will allow us to paint a snapshot picture of the background, conditions, and experiences of our student community on campus, which is valuable on many levels. The Arab American Cultural Center will use this data to advocate for our students collectively, to advocate for additional services, programs, and resources across campus and to create programming that reflect the needs and desires of actual students.

After finishing the survey if you are interested in being considered for a raffle, please do enter your email address. Our raffle prizes include Target gift cards, restaurant gift cards, and Arab American Cultural Center T-shirts.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me directly at zzaatari@uic.edu

Sincerely

Zeina Zaatari, PhD

Director of the Arab American Cultural Center

Huda Asfour and Irina Solinas in a UIC Musical Performance Nov 5

We are fortunate to bring this amazing opportunity to showcase two wonderful artists and their new project who are on their US tour to the UIC campus. Huda Asfour (Palestinian musician/composer/singer) on oud and Irina Solinas (Italian cellist) on cello have crafted a new project that is engaging and daring. This vibrant duo will take us into their journey through music and storytelling. You will assuredly be inspired and moved.

Irina Solinas Irina Solinas is one of the most sought after young cellists in Italy. A combination of her strength in classical cello playing with her avant garde ideas have propelled her to being celebrated as a musical leader for her generation.
