FOR YOUR INFORMATION, SHARE WITH STUDENTS: New Summer Tuition and Fee Information

The UIC Summer Session Office is pleased to announce a new rate structure for UIC Summer Session tuition and fees. Effective summer 2016, the undergraduate summer tuition and fees will be charged on a per credit hour basis instead of a range tuition basis.

Summer Session provides an excellent opportunity for students to make progress to graduation or to enroll in a single course. New online courses have been added in 2016 to provide even greater access to UIC courses.

In addition, the Summer Session office is working more closely this year with advisors and faculty to ensure that student course selections align with academic goals. Together these changes will provide UIC and visiting undergraduates with more cost effective opportunities to catch up or get ahead in their studies during the summer months.

Please note: Graduate and Professional Program tuition and fees will continue to be assessed under the range tuition structure in summer. Online programs will continue to be assessed under separate per credit hour rates.

YOUR RESPONSE NEEDED: Please help the IPAS Committee’s development of a new online system to support advising and success of UIC students.

The IPAS committee invites you to participate in a survey that will help us develop a new online system to support advising and student success at UIC. We know this is a crazy time of year for you, but your feedback will be essential to help us design a system that will work for you and the students you serve.

The survey will be open until December 15, 2015. You can access the survey through the following link:

A little more background: Vice Provost Pollack has charged the Integrated Planning and Advising Services (IPAS) Committee with developing an implementation plan for a new IPAS system that will support the success of UIC students and improve communication and collaboration between advisors across the institution. EDUCAUSE defines IPAS systems as the “institutional capability to create shared ownership for educational progress by providing students, faculty, and staff with holistic information and services that contribute to the completion of a degree or other credential.” We are seeking input from a variety of campus constituents about the types of data that would be most helpful to better support the students you serve.

If you have any questions or need additional information about the survey, please contact Peggie Garcia at

YOUR INPUT NEEDED – SSI: First-Year Academic Experience & Enrichment Campus Resources for First-Year Seminars

The Student Success Initiative’s First-Year Academic Experience & Enrichment Committee would like to request your assistance to develop a comprehensive list of resources and programs campus units may be able to offer first-year seminars at UIC. Please use the following link to complete a brief online survey on the utilization of your unit?s services in first-year seminar courses.

First-year seminars may already use your unit’s services, but there may be other programs and information that you would like first-year seminar instructors and coordinators to know about to foster student success at UIC. Please share any resources with the Committee. We will share results from this questionnaire to UIC first-year seminar coordinators and instructors and all campus units and programs who respond.

If you have any questions about our Committee’s work, please contact Justin Wier at To learn more about the Student Success Initiative, visit
