INFORMATION REQUEST: Advisors’ Social Media Usage Survey – please complete it by February 28th!

The Web/Newsletter/Social Media Presence Subcommittee of the Office for Advising Development (OAD) is interested in learning about the ways in which UIC advisors utilize social media.

Our goal in collecting this information is to determine which social media tools would best communicate advising related news/information and when is the most effective time to share updates via social media. Please share your thoughts with us by February 28th at the following link: OAD Social Media Usage Survey. Please note that the information submitted via the survey is anonymous.

UARC REQUEST: Are you participating in Open House? Will you have pics or postings? Share them!

Many advisors on campus participate in UIC’s Open House, this Saturday, October 3rd. And we know that it’s a great day at UIC and brings thousands of folks to campus.

UARC would love to feature pictures and experiences that UIC advisors have of Open House. Some of us will be working at the Expo, hosting groups, or presenting sessions. We want to feature that in Advisor News so please send them along!

You can send along pics to Joey ( or let her know about posting. She’ll be following the live tweets all day.

UARC REQUEST: Are you going to NACADA’s upcoming Annual Conference? Let other UIC attendees know!

It’s that time again – NACADA is hosting its annual conference in a few weeks!

Just as it’s getting cool outside in Chicago, some members of our advising community are heading out to warmer weather for a great experience in advising – NACADA 39th Annual Conference – What Happens in Advising Stays with Students being hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada October 4th through the 7th.

Are you attending? Other UIC advisors and staff will be going and UARC wants to connect you!

Please let us know by Friday, October 2nd if you will be going to Las Vegas so that we can ensure that others know you’ll be there. Strategizing about sessions is a great way to maximize conference attendance with an agenda as packed as this one!

You can let UARC know by emailing Joey Volpe at
