ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. SHARE WITH STUDENTS—UIC Transfer Merit and Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarships deadline extended to July 17th.
The applications for the UIC Transfer Merit and Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarships are now live. Students can access them through the links below. The deadline for both awards is July 15, 2015. Please feel free to share this with students inquiring about the transfer scholarships.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP
The Honors College awards the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, a one-time, one-semester tuition waiver, to new Honors College transfer students. Transfer students to the college who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, the community college honor society, have a minimum of a 3.5 transfer GPA, and are enrolled for at least 12 credit hours during the fall term are eligible to apply. Transfer students must be in their first semester at UIC in fall 2015 to be eligible. This scholarship is competitive and not all eligible students will receive an award. TRANSFER MERIT TUITION AWARD
The UIC Transfer Merit Tuition Awards are given on a competitive basis to new transfer students each fall. Applicants must be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program, have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.25 on a minimum of 45 transfer credits, and be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours. A written statement outlining your educational and career goals and how you have financed your education thus far and a copy of financial aid awards statement should be submitted along with a completed application. Transfer students must be in their first semester at UIC in fall 2015 to be eligible. This scholarship is competitive and not all eligible students will receive an award. 2. FOR YOUR INFORMATION/SHARE WITH STUDENTS – CORRECTION - UIC College of Pharmacy updating Pre-Pharmacy Requirements for Fall 2016 Applicants
CORRECTION!
The UIC College of Pharmacy has made changes to its requirements for admission to pharmacy school for Fall 2016. Following are the three changes:

1. AP Calculus credit will be allowed - if accepted and given credit by undergraduate/pre-pharmacy institution
2. 4 semester credits of MICRO-BIO changed to 3 semester credits (but still with Lab)
3. 4 semester credits of Bio-Chem was previously changed to 3 semester credits (but with no Lab)

This will be effective for next admission cycle Fall 2016

3. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – SAVE THE DATE(S): STUDY ABROAD Workshop for Advisors sponsored by SAO and UARC on 8/10 and 8/12.
The Study Abroad Office will offer a summer workshop focusing on pedagogy, curriculum integration, and best practice in the field of international education. Intended outcomes for advisors include examples of the academic, personal, and career benefits of studying abroad, practical updates on SAO administrative protocols, and a study abroad advising toolbox for every type of learner to further UIC’s Student Success Initiative.

To accommodate advisors' schedules, the workshop will be held twice:
Monday, August 10th: 9:00 am -10:30am
Location: TBA – East Campus

Tuesday, August 12th: 9:00 am – 10:30 am
Location: TBA – East Campus

Light breakfast will be served.

UARC is pleased to be sponsoring the workshops in partnership with the Study Abroad Office. We will keep you updated with information and look forward to seeing you at the sessions.

 
4. YOUR HELP NEEDED – SSI Credit Accumulation Project is hosting focus groups of advisors on July 10th and July 15th to talk about advisor/student conversations about finishing on time.
The SSI Credit Accumulation Project is interested to talk with you about executing a finishing on time campaign. Advisors are on the front lines having conversations with students and the project team would like your input.

To accommodate schedules, Dr. Corinne Kodama will be conducting focus groups on the following dates. If you can attend, please RSVP:
