OAD will be providing transportation to the ILACADA Annual Conference on September 22nd at Northern Illinois University (NIU). We have two of our advisors presenting, it’s only one day, and it’s close to UIC so you should think about coming!

REMINDER/INVITATION TO ATTEND ILACADA ANNUAL CONFERENCE:

This is a reminder that you are personally invited to attend the 2017 ILACADA Annual Conference at Northern Illinois University (NIU).  NIU is hosting the 2017 ILACADA Annual Conference on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 8:00 am – 4:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center!  There will also be a networking social on Thursday, September 21st from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. for conference participants.  This year’s theme is Advising: The Root of Student Success. This is a great opportunity for you to engage in an exciting professional development experience close to home!
Session titles include: Advise Despite Distractions (ADD); Strategies for a Successful 2to 4 Year Transition Program; Managing Large Scale Change with Minimal Casualties; Addressing the Unique Needs of College Student Military Veterans; How Frameworks of Campus Ecology Can Inform your Advising Space; Undocumented Students’ Academic Success: Challenges and Opportunities; Strong Roots, Strong Branches: Nurturing Generational Diversity in the Advising Unit; and Supporting Youth from Foster Care in College.

Conference Registration is open!  The fee is $90 for faculty/professionals and $50 for graduate students.  The Conference Registration fee includes the full conference, networking social and an ILACADA membership through September 30, 2018.  To register for the conference, go to: http://ilacada.org/conference. The priority registration date is Friday, September 8, 2017.
We need volunteers!  The Conference Planning Committee is looking for volunteers to make this conference a success! Volunteering is a great way to network and meet new colleagues. We are looking for conference participants to serve as volunteers to assist with the following: check-in, program session moderators, conference evaluations, luncheon hosts and greeters. Volunteers will be assigned two-hour shifts based on their availability and are needed during the following dates/times:

  • Thursday, September 21, 2017       3:00 pm -7:00 pm
  • Friday, September 22, 2017             7:30 am – 5:00 pm
