Are you familiar with the mindfulness trend being adopted in many offices and personally by folks across the nation and world?
Well…guess what? It’s arrived at UIC for our students!
Mindfulness is the intentional, accepting and non-judgemental focus of one’s attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment. It has roots in Bhuddist traditions but is a secular practice and is often used as a stress reduction technique.
The UIC Counseling Center is now providing some programs for students centered in the mindfulness tradition through a new program on mind/body health. Contact the Counseling Center for more information.
For more information on mindfulness, you can visit The Greater Good Science Center at University of California, Berkeley.
