PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: NACADA Core Competencies for Academic Advising

MESSAGE FROM NACADA -

NACADA's Professional Development Committee (PDC) thanks all members who have provided feedback for the Core Competencies for Academic Advising development project.

In case you haven't yet heard, the PDC has been tasked by the association's leadership to develop a set of Core Competencies for Academic Advising that can assist advisors and advising administrators around the globe in crafting their individual and program professional development paths.  PDC members have been hard at work on this project.  An initial draft has been developed and, during the month of February, the committee is gathering feedback from the membership at large.  If you have not yet done so, we hope that you will be willing to take the time to review the committee's work and share your thoughts with us.

We invite you to visit the Advising Core Competencies Model webpage to learn more about this project.  On the webpage, you will find a video from PDC Chair Teri Farr discussing the project goals, a brief explanation of the model's framework and core competencies, and information on project feedback opportunities.  Two CHAT session opportunities remain, so don't miss your chance to discuss the competencies development with PDC members.

We appreciate your participation in this important project, and we look forward to hearing from you!
