PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: FALL 2016 Student Conduct Committee Training
The UIC Student Conduct Committee, managed through the Office of the Dean of Students, is responsible for hearing cases of alleged violations of the UIC Student Disciplinary Policy. Members are directly responsible for deciding if a violation occurred and determining appropriate sanctions. This panel has the distinction of protecting the interests of the campus community and the students’ rights. In this capacity, prospective Student Conduct Committee members should be free of bias, judgment, or prejudice.
The Student Conduct Committee is comprised of faculty, staff, and student members. This provides the opportunity for students, faculty, and staff members to work collaboratively for a common purpose. Prospective student members must be in good academic standing at UIC. Through participation in the Student Conduct Committee, participants will:
- Enhance active listening skills
- Learn ethics and conflict resolution skills
- Utilize analytical and critical thinking skills
- Formulate well-reasoned questions and decisions
- Strengthen understanding of the UIC Student Disciplinary Policy
In order to become a member of the Student Conduct Committee, you must attend one of the following trainings:
