FOR YOUR INFORMATION: AP Credit Policy Update

Dear Colleagues,

As you may know, recent legislation mandates that public universities in Illinois award credit for a minimum score of 3 for all Advanced Placement exams beginning with the Fall 2016 term.

After a comprehensive review by the impacted undergraduate colleges/academic departments, our Advanced Placement policy has been updated to meet the requirements of the legislation. The new policy is posted in the Undergraduate Catalog at http://catalog.uic.edu/ucat/degree-programs/academic-standing/#creditbyexam.

Please note the following:
-          The new policy will be implemented for students admitted to and enrolled at UIC for Fall 2016 and after.

-          Continuing students are not impacted by the new policy. Their Advanced Placement credit has already been applied. The AP policy for continuing students is also posted in the Undergraduate Catalog at http://catalog.uic.edu/ucat/degree-programs/academic-standing/#creditbyexam.

Please feel free to contact the Office of Transfer Articulation and Degree Audit tadahelp@uic.edu if you have any questions about the new AP policy.

Regards,

Robert Dixon
UIC Registrar
