What is the Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award?

A recognition of individuals who demonstrate excellence, commitment and dedication to advising undergraduate student at UIC. All nominees will be recognized during Advisor Week (3/26/2018-3/29/2018) and up to three individuals will be awarded a monetary prize from the Provost.

 Who should be nominated?  

Any non-faculty professional who demonstrates excellence, commitment and dedication to advising undergraduate students at UIC.

Who can nominate?

Anyone including individuals themselves! Students, faculty and staff are able to submit a nomination.

How to nominate?

Visit  http://go.uic.edu/AdvisingAdwards and tell us how the nominee demonstrates excellence in advising.  There is no limit to the number of nominees submitted.  

What’s the deadline?

February 1st2018


FOR YOUR INFORMATION: Announcing the 2017 Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award Winners!

Today, our 2017 Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award winners received congratulations from Provost Poser and Vice Provost Varelas via campus announcement.

On behalf of the OAD Steering Committee and the OAD Advising Awards Committee, we are delighted to extend our congratulations to the 2017 Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award winners:

This award recognizes excellence, commitment, and dedication of professional advisors of undergraduate students at UIC.  Our winners were selected by a committee of their peers to be recognized for their work with our undergraduates and contributions to UIC’s mission. Congratulations to each of our winners!

ADVISOR NEWS: CBA’s Diana Soriano is a recipient of this year’s NACADA Region 5 Excellence in Advising Award!

We are so very pleased that Diana Soriano of the College of Business Administration has been selected as a recipient of NACADA Region 5’s 2017 Excellence in Advising – Advisor Primary Role.

Established in 1983, the NACADA Annual Awards Program for Academic Advising honors individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. In addition to her leadership in advising at UIC, Diana has served as a leader in NACADA Region 5 and is currently chairing pre-conference workshops.

The Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising award recognizes excellence, commitment, and dedication of professional advisors of undergraduate students.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, ADVISING AWARDS: 2016 NACADA Award nominations open until 3/22!

The NACADA Awards Program is accepting nominations. The deadline to submit nominations has been extended to March 22, 2016! This year all nomination material can be submitted online via the Online Awards Submission Portal.

The NACADA Awards Program would be a great avenue for increasing the visibility of advising on your campus. Nominate a colleague who has done an excellent job with academic advising on your campus or an advising program currently being implemented. Visit the Awards website for a complete listing of award categories and to submit your nomination.

All required nomination materials and support documentation must be received by the March 22, 2016 deadline. Please check individual categories for specific deadlines. The complete 2016 Call for Awards Nominations, eligibility criteria, and submission guidelines can be found on the NACADA website.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Final deadline for Provost’s Advising Excellence Award is MONDAY, February 15th!

The UARC Advising Awards Committee is pleased to announce that nominations are open for the 2016 Provost’s Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award, which recognizes professional advisors who have demonstrated exemplary skill in academic advising and a commitment to student success at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Eligible nominees include non-faculty professionals who spend a significant portion of their job advising undergraduates, including academic advisors in the colleges and departments as well as advisors in academic support/success programs.  Nominees must have served in an advisory capacity at UIC for at least one full academic year. Award recipients may be selected for the award no more than once every three years.

At this time, the Advising Awards Committee has planned for a deadline of February 15, 2016 for Advising Excellence nominations. The nomination form is available at http://go.uic.edu/AA2016.

The advising awards are administered by the UARC Advising Awards Committee who are in the process of updating the program for 2016. The process for nomination and selection of awards is being streamlined and updated.

Watch for updates to the Advising Awards section of the advising.uic.edu website where there will be biographies of winners allowing us to continue to honor our awardees.

The UARC Advising Awards committee will be sending along information about the 2016 Provost’s Advising Excellence Awards before the holiday break. Keep your eyes peeled and be thinking about nominating advisors for recognition for their accomplishments.

 

 


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: NACADA Region V First Annual Academic Advising Awards nominations now open until November 1

NACADA Region V has opened the nomination portal for the 1st Annual Region V Academic Advising Awards!

Region V will be recognizing outstanding colleagues in the following areas:

Excellence in Advising – Primary Role
Excellence in Advising – Faculty Advisor
Excellence in Advising – New Advisor
Excellence in Advising – Advising Administrator
Service to Region V Award

Online submissions of nominations and supporting materials will be accepted through November 1, 2015. Awardees will be recognized at the 2016 Regional Conference in Toronto, Ontario (April 6-8, 2016).

In addition, Region V is seeking submissions for Region V Grants and Scholarships as well as Great Lakes Great Leaders program! Again all submissions must be received by November 1, 2015.
